Though "Only God Forgives," Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling's follow-up to last year's head-explodingly-awesome first collaboration "Drive," was among some of the more painful omissions from this year's Cannes film festival, a short clip debuted during a mysterious screening at the fest.
Quint over at Ain't It Cool was among the lucky few who were able to catch a glimpse at the upcoming film, which follows Gosling as the son of a crime boss who must face off against a legendary cop after his brother gets into trouble.

Wes Anderson’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom,’ With Bruce Willis
Wes Anderson makes films about small worlds in which big things happen: love, heartbreak, calamities, death. In his latest, the wondrous storybook tale “Moonrise Kingdom,” a girl and a boy, both 12, run off to a remote inlet on an island where most of the adults seem disappointed and more than a little sad. The girl and the boy are very serious — about love, their 125 equity loanplans, books, life itself — and often act older than their age. She wears bright blue eyeliner; he puffs on a corncob pipe. You wonder what their hurry is, given that here adulthood, with its quarrels, regrets and anguished pillow talk, can feel as dangerous as the storm that’s hurtling toward the island, ready to blow it all down.
The two young romantics in “Moonrise Kingdom,” which opened the 65th Cannes Film Festival on May 16, are gifted and, according to grown-ups who are supposed to know about such things, problem children. Suzy (Kara Hayward) definitely knows this about herself because she discovered a copy of a pamphlet, “Coping With the Very Troubled Child,” on top of the family fridge. She does have a temper, but she also has three younger brothers, which may help explain her tantrums. Yet, like many characters in Mr. Anderson’s films, she’s also troubled on a deeper level, beset by an existential despair that waned when, while getting ready for a performance of Benjamin Britten’s opera “Noye’s Fludde” a year earlier, she met her match, her soul mate, her co-conspirator, Sam (Jared Gilman).
The film loan opens shortly before the two rendezvous in a field — she brings 125 equity loanher favorite books in a suitcase; he brings her flowers and the camping gear — and head off on a journey that’s part quest, part romance, with a touch of film noir and a hint of the French New Wave. Along the way, there are dangers, both natural and human, and finally paradise, in a small, pretty cove they rename Moonrise Kingdom. (Working with his regular cinematographer, Robert Yeoman, Mr. Anderson softens the colors and gives them the slight tint of a faded Polaroid photograph.) There, with a tent, a French pop song and unembarrassed honesty (Sam warns Suzy that he may wet the bed), they consummate, metaphorically, an enchanted, chaste affair capped with a hilariously symbolic deflowering.
Since his first feature in 1996, “Bottle Rocket,” Mr. Anderson has directed a series of personal films about characters — a schoolboy visionary, traveling brothers, wily thieves — who, through their harebrained schemes, grand pursuits or art (these are finally indistinguishable), transcend the ordinary. The same is true in “Moonrise Kingdom,” which traces how Suzy and Sam met, how they wrote to each other, shared their secrets and plans, and then went off on their adventure (their life), throwing the island’s adults into a panic. In other words, it’s about how they construct a world parallel to the larger one, carving out an intensely loan individual space and defining themselves through their shared visions and actions, which means that the movie is also very much about creation as an act of self-creation.
Like many of Mr. Anderson’s films, including his last one, the truly fantastic “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” there’s a deliberate, self-conscious once-upon-a-time quality to “Moonrise Kingdom.” From the minute the film opens, quickly settling on a needlepoint image of a house — a representation of the one in which Suzy lives, where it all begins — Mr. Anderson, who’s more fabulist than traditional realist, underscores the obvious point that you’re watching a story. This heightened sense of self-awareness is underscored by the exhilarating camera movements that sweep across the house from right to left, left to right, and up and down, and take you on a time and space tour through the house, past Suzy’s father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Bishop (Bill Murray and Frances McDormand, both touching).

On those weeks where reviews are sparse, I’ll be taking a look at an actor or actress whose body of work boasts many roles that may not be as diverse as those taken on by other actors or actresses. This actor is easily one of the best young performers currently working, and therefore saying that he tends to play the same kind of role is so much an example of analysis rather than judgment. In a little over ten years, Gosling has turned in some terrific performances, but usually they don’t make him very likeable or social. Many find him irresistibly attractive particularly because of his loner attitude.
The Believer (2001): Gosling’s first major role saw him as an angry neo-Nazi who was actually Jewish, determined to visit his frustration on the people he blamed for it.

To recap, since 99.7% of the participation is by "mom" bloggers, the interpretation generally seems to be "pretend as if Ryan Gosling is your significant other and or side project, and fill in the blanks, fantasizing about how supportive and awesome he'd be". And also, I might add, there seems to be a pervy special needs mom-blogger element (also approximately 99.7%) that manipulates Mr. Gosling into . . . lewd situations. *blushes demurely*

Every film festival should be as star studded as the opening of the 65th Festival de Cannes. Bruce Willis led the charge with the all star cast of the opening night film, Wes Anderson‘s utterly charming “Moonrise Kingdom.” The group included Willis, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton, Bob Balaban and a group of very talented American kids who play campers in the movie.
The big red carpet in front of the Palais was buzzing because there were plenty more stars. Jane Fonda was a sensation in a tight fitting Marchesa gown. We saw Michel Hazanavicius and Berenice Bejo of “The Artist,” Alec Baldwin and James Toback, Chris Pine, Jessica Chastain, Freida Pinto, Eva Longoria. Jeffrey Katzenberg, and so on. The stars just kept on coming, as Thierry Fremaux and Gilles Jacob greeted their guests at the top of the very tall, broad staircase.
Berenice Bejo, Oscar nominated for “The Artist,” served as mistress of ceremonies for the formal event preceeding the screening. Wearing a gorgeous bright red Louis Vuitton gown, she told me that right before she stepped onto the stage of the Palais she got a little nervous. :I thought, why am I doing this?” She laughed. It was her responsibility to introduce the jury– including Ewan McGregor and director AlexanderPayne. She also welcomed the musical guest, a hot group called Gossip that had trouble getting everyone’s attention.

Refn made a name for himself in Europe with the Pusher films, a gritty crime trilogy that boosted the career of future Bond villain Mads Mikkelsen. Bronson found some critical success, but, more importantly, it established its lead, a barely-recognizable Tom Hardy, as someone to watch, and arguably led to his star-making turn in Inception.

Eva Mendes Gets Giggly over Ryan Gosling with Ellen DeGeneres
Showing a clip of Gosling, 31, working out in onesie PJs on a recent episode of DeGeneres’s show Ellen, the host points out that Mendes, 38, is also a big fan of the relaxing nightwear.
“I don’t know if you ever run into him, if you know him in any way, or see him ever,” DeGeneres jokingly told Mendes on her show, suggesting she should ask him about the pajamas.<div 10px;”="" margin:=""

Mendes, who kept a straight face at this point, told DeGeneres, “So ask Gosling about the onesie. Okay, note to self. Ask Gosling about the onesie.”
But it was the TV personality’s next question that brought out the actress’s flushed side.
“So you just call him by the last name?” DeGeneres asked. “You don’t call him Ryan? You just call him Gosling – when you see him ever?”
Blushing, Mendes put her head in her hands and covered her face with hair as a set assistant brought out a pink onesie for Mendes and a purple one with duckies for Gosling.
“Because he likes them so much, when you see him – if you see him if you run into him – I’ve got a gift that I think both of you would have fun [with],” DeGeneres joked once again. “[This could] especially [work] as an icebreaker when you meet him for the first time.”
Mendes, who finally gained back her composure, then played coy with DeGeneres.
“If I happen to see him tonight, I will give this to him,” she says. “I’m saying if I run in – you never know.

What. He's from Canada so he really appreciates the sophisticated yet understated power of this multi-toned neutral. It's nuanced. It's both masculine and feminine. It's thought provoking, intellectual and yet totally simple.
But, paint colors are incredibly tricky, truly, and i'm not an expert on picking the perfect color the first time, AT ALL. But i have painted around 50 rooms in the last two years so i've definitely made some mistakes and learned a few things.loan
